Blurt for lawyers, clinicians and consultants
Client work stays on the Mac that heard it.
Dictate a memo, an attendance note or a draft without sending a word to a transcription service. There is no account, no server copy, and a published list of every connection the app makes.

Blurt is a private dictation app for Apple Silicon Macs. Speech recognition and AI cleanup run on the Mac, there is no account, and transcripts are stored only on your disk, so there is no server copy of client work. It costs $3.99 a month, $29 a year or $99 once. Whether it meets your firm's rules is for your compliance team to decide.
Why there is nothing on a server to worry about
No account, no profile
You download the app and use it. If you buy, you paste a licence key. There is no sign-up, no email address in the app and no profile for your dictation to be attached to.
No server copy
Transcription and cleanup happen on the Mac. We never receive the audio or the text, so there is nothing for us to lose in a breach, disclose, or be asked to hand over.
Every outbound connection, listed
Four automatic connections: the licence check, the update check, the one-off model download and the installer. Two more happen only if you ask: sending feedback, and usage sharing if you switch it on, which sends counts and timings, never audio or text. The privacy page names every host.
History you control
Transcripts are saved to files on your Mac. Search, edit or export them, set them to delete themselves after 30 days, 90 days or a year, or delete the lot in one click. Deleted means gone: we never had a copy to restore.
Meetings without a bot
Meeting mode records your microphone and the call's system audio and transcribes both on the Mac, labelled You and Others. No notetaker joins the call and the transcript is stored only on your machine.
What it does not have
No compliance certifications, no team administration, no SSO and no audit log. If your organisation requires those, an enterprise product is the right choice. Blurt suits the individual practitioner who wants the words never to leave the machine.
FAQ
Is Blurt HIPAA or GDPR compliant?
Blurt holds no certifications. What it can say is factual: audio and transcripts never leave the Mac, there is no account, and the privacy page lists every connection the app makes. Your compliance team can check that list against your rules.
Can Blurt staff read my dictation?
No. The text never reaches us. Blurt transcribes and cleans up on your Mac, and transcripts are stored only there.
Does it work on a firm laptop with no internet?
Yes, after the one-off model download. Blurt's dictation, cleanup, meeting mode and history all run offline. The licence check happens about once a week when a connection is available.
Can I make it forget old transcripts automatically?
Yes. Blurt's History can keep everything, or delete transcripts older than a year, 90 days or 30 days. The word totals on the Home tab survive; the text does not.
