Blurt for RSI
Give the long typing to your voice.
When your wrists are the bottleneck, every paragraph costs something. Blurt moves the long stretches of typing to speech, in the apps you already use, with one key to start and one to stop.

Blurt is a dictation app for Apple Silicon Macs that turns speech into text in any app with a text cursor, so people with RSI or carpal tunnel can type far less. You can hold a key while you talk or tap once to go hands-free, and there is no usage meter. It runs on the Mac and costs $3.99 a month, $29 a year or $99 once.
Built so talking costs less than typing
Hands-free, not just push to talk
Holding a key for a long paragraph defeats the point. Tap the trigger once to start, talk as long as you need, tap again to stop. Push to talk is there for short replies. The trigger key is yours to choose.
Every app with a cursor
Mail, Slack, Notes, Word, a browser form, a terminal. Blurt types into whatever has focus, so you do not have to dictate into one window and paste the result somewhere else.
No usage meter
Paid plans have no usage meter. Dictate for hours without watching a counter or rationing the day.
Less fixing afterwards
Correcting text by hand is typing too. Local cleanup removes filler words and false starts, smart formatting restores paragraphs and lists, and Polish rewrites any text you select with one shortcut.
Names it learns once
Custom vocabulary, replacement rules and suggestions from your own corrections mean a name it got wrong last week comes out right this week, so you spend fewer keystrokes on repairs.
What it is not
Blurt is dictation: it turns speech into text. It is not medical advice or a treatment, and it does not replace seeing a clinician about the pain. For clicking and navigating the Mac by voice, macOS has Voice Control built in, and the two can be used side by side.
FAQ
Can I dictate without holding a key down?
Yes. Blurt's hands-free mode starts with one tap of the trigger key and stops with another. Push to talk, where you hold the key while speaking, is the other option. The trigger key is Fn by default and can be changed.
Is there a limit on how much I can dictate?
Not on a paid Blurt plan. After the 14-day trial the free mode allows 20 dictations a day; Monthly, Yearly and Lifetime have no usage limit.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After a one-off model download, Blurt's dictation, cleanup and history run with the wifi off. Only the licence check, the update check, downloading an update and downloading another model need a connection.
Can Blurt control my Mac by voice?
No, Blurt types text. For clicking, scrolling and switching apps by voice, use macOS Voice Control, which is built in and can run alongside Blurt.
